LAMDA Card Services General Questions

LAMDA Card Services is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant, which is the highest level of protection in the card industry.

LAMDA Card Services Ltd is authorized to redeem and distribute electronic money in Cyprus, issued by DiPocket Limited, a company licensed by the Financial Conduct Authority of the United Kingdom. These regulations mean that LAMDA Card Services must comply with various checks and regulatory requirements regarding our cardholders' protection and privacy, anti-fraud and risk prevention.

We offer flexibility to our clients to choose a card that satisfies their needs and we provide Customer Service Advisors to deal with any of their queries or issues.

LAMDA cards are prepaid. This removes the risk of overspending and decreases the possibility of credit card theft.

Our system developers have spent years of research and expertise to make sure that there can be no security breaches.

A LAMDA Prepaid Mastercard® is a card account, which operates like a debit card and offers its cardholder all the benefits of a bank, without being linked to a bank account. It is used for online and in-store purchases as well as ATM withdrawals all over the world.

A cardholder has many benefits, including easy access to transaction reports and card balances, anonymity and security, easy loading and immediate fund availability, low fees and flexibility.

LAMDA Prepaid MasterCards® can be Physical or Virtual and are issued in two currencies; EUR or USD.

Physical cards: Student Prepaid Mastercard®, Diamond Prepaid Mastercard®, Gold Prepaid Mastercard®, Platinum Prepaid Mastercard® and Premium Black Prepaid Mastercard®. Student, Diamond, Gold, Platinum and Premium Black cards are all Chip and PIN MasterCards® which can be used for ATM withdrawals, online and in-store purchases.

Virtual cards: Virtual Prepaid Mastercard® is issued electronically and can only be used for online purchases.

Gift cards: Virtual Prefunded Gift Card is accepted by all online merchants within the Mastercard® network. Physical Prefunded Gift Card is great for holidays, birthdays, graduations, and anything in between. It is simple, convenient, and always well-received.

A Physical card is a regular card like any other debit card, which can be used for online and in-store puchases as well as ATM withdrawals.

Virtual card is issued electronically and only the front face of the card is shown with the 16-digit card number and the expiration date. The cardholder is shown the card's CVC2 code once to memorize or take note of in a safe place. Virtual cards can only be used for online payments.

Our Virtual and Physical Gift Cards are prefunded, meaning the funds are loaded when the cards are issued and they cannot be reloaded. The maximum load for Gift Cards is €250 / $350.

A prepaid Mastercard®, such as the Student, Diamond, Gold, Platinum, and Premium Black cards are prepaid because they can be issued with a zero balance and are re-loadable up to their annual limits.

A LAMDA Card Services account is created by the user on www.lamdacardservices.com in a matter of minutes by selecting the 'Create New Online Account' option and filling in the requested details.

Once an account is created, it can be accessed by entering your username (your e-mail address) and password.

NOTE: Passwords must be between 8 and 30 characters long and must contain at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, and one digit. Special Characters are not allowed.

No. LAMDA cards are not linked to any bank accounts, they are card accounts. Only the cardholder has access to their transaction reports through their account.

No. However, before a card is ordered, the card creation fee must be paid by either a wire transfer to your LAMDA card or in person at the branch location. It is not necessary that the payment is done from one of your pre-existing accounts.

Any EU citizen over the age of 18 can apply for a card. LAMDA Card Services reserves the right to carry out identification checks.

LAMDA Prepaid MasterCards® are secure and anonymous. They are reloadable 24/7 365 days a year and money is safely deposited in the Bank Zachodni WBK S.A.

There are no hidden fees or charges and overspending is not possible as the cards are prepaid.

Getting Started

A LAMDA Prepaid Mastercard® can generally be obtained in the following ways: :

  • Make an account on www.lamdacardservices.com. Then apply for a card by closely following the steps.
    After confirming your details and accepting the Terms&Conditions, your card will be issued.
    NOTE: If ordering a Virtual Mastercard®, at this point your CVC2 code will be shown to you. It will only be displayed once and you must save it because it cannot be retrieved.
  • Fill in a hard copy application and drop it off at our office in Limassol, Cyprus along with the creation fee (in cash).

All LAMDA MasterCards® are subject to a creation fee:

  • Virtual Prefunded Gift Card: €2.00/$2.60
  • Prefunded Gift Card: €5.00/$6.50
  • Virtual Mastercard Prepaid Card: €1.00/$1.30
  • Student Mastercard Prepaid Card: €10.00
  • Gold Mastercard Prepaid Card: €18.00/$23.40
  • Platinum Mastercard Prepaid Card: €25.00/$32.50
  • Premium Black Mastercard Prepaid Card: €35.00/$46.00

Cards and PINs can be picked up from our office in Limassol, Cyprus.
Cards and PINs are sent for free by registered post within Cyprus.

International dispatches are through DHL or FedEx and the cost is €35-€45. This is for two shipments; one for the card and a second one for the PIN, which are shipped separately for security purposes.

In case a card or PIN have to be reissued, then the cost of a single shipment is €25.

Cards are activated by our staff at the branch once picked up or when received by mail, so please contact Customer Service via email at customer.service@lamdacardservices.com or by calling +357 25 249988 to inform them that you have received your card and PIN.

When creating a LAMDA account, basic information such as name, e-mail, phone number, D.O.B., address and nationality are requested.

The minimum requirements for applying for a Prepaid Mastercard® are to provide a color copy of passport or ID and proof of address (e.g. a Utility Bill or Bank statement not older than 3 months). For cards with limits over €15,000 / $21,000 more documents concerning proof of source of funds must be uploaded.

Once the card and PIN are ready, a Customer Service Advisor will get in touch with you to verify the address provided. After dispatch, please allow up to 7 working days for them to arrive.

Alternatively, cards and PINs can be picked up at our office in Limassol, Cyprus.

One person can have up to 2 LAMDA Prepaid Mastercards®.

No because it is a prepaid card. We do, however, have KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements for all LAMDA Prepaid Mastercards® except for our Prefunded Gift Cards.

My LAMDA Card

Funds are securely deposited in the Bank Zachodni WBK S.A.

It can be used all over the world where Mastercard® is accepted; online and in-store - at shops, hotels, and restaurants at over 33 million merchant locations as well as for cash withdrawals at more than 2.1 million ATMs.

It is rare that a cardholder will not be able to use their card balance 24 hours after loading the card via wire transfer. If not, kindly contact the bank that processed the wire transfer.

Balances and transaction reports can be viewed in one of the following ways :

  • By logging into your account with your username and password under 'My LAMDA Cards' tab > 'View Cards Statement'. This is the easiest and fastest way to view your balance and transactions.
  • By installing the LAMDA Card Services App on your smartphone and signing into your account with your username and password to view balances.
  • By calling Customer Service on +357 25 249988 and answering certain verification questions.

Funds can be withdrawn from any ATM globally that accepts Mastercard®.

National charges (Cyprus) are €2.50 / $3.25.
International charges are 2.5% (Min €1.50 / $1.95).

All LAMDA Prepaid MasterCards® expire after 3 years from the date the cards are issued, except for LAMDA Prefunded Gift Cards that are valid for 5 years.

Virtual cards can be upgraded to Physical cards online through your account under 'My LAMDA Cards' tab and 'Upgrade' tab.

Physical cards can be upgraded to the next limit level through your account under 'My LAMDA Cards' tab and 'Upgrade' tab or at our branch location.

Yes. It can be used just like any other Mastercard® debit card.

Yes, cards can be embossed with any name of your choice.

LAMDA Card Services also offer the option of card branding and co-branding for corporate purposes. Please contact LAMDA Card Services if you are interested in our branding options.

Refunds are credited to the original method of payment.

Yes, it can be used like any other Mastercard®.

You can protect yourself by taking certain safety measures. Do not disclose any sensitive data and do not write down your PIN or CVC2 code, keep these private.

Never tell a shop assistant your PIN or ask them to enter it for you.

LAMDA Card Services will never ask you to disclose sensitive data via e-mail. You will also never receive e-mails from LAMDA Card Services unless they are from customer.service@lamdacardservices.com

Do NOT respond to suspicious e-mail, do NOT provide information, do NOT click on any attachments, and do NOT download any fraudulent software.

Whenever you would like to cancel your Card and have your funds redeemed to your bank account, you may send your request in writing to either:

Your request should include the following:

  • 1. A Redemption Form completed with all required information, or letter requesting redemption of funds and providing the following details:
    • Account holder name and contact details of your account to be credited
    • IBAN, BIC/Swift code, bank name and address of the account
  • 2. A scanned copy of your ID/passport.
  • 3. A document proving that you are the owner of the bank account to which the available funds will be transferred. This must originate from the bank where the account is held and must confirm that you are holder of the bank account. It may, for example, be a fragment of a bank statement but must, at a minimum, display the bank name, account name, IBAN number and BIC/SWIFT code

When we have checked the request we will cancel your card and initiate the funds redemption process.

NOTE

The beneficiary bank account should be in the name of the cardholder and in the same currency as the default currency of the card (a request for redemption is processed in the default currency so we will convert all the funds on your card before sending the transfer). We shall cover costs of the transfer, provided that the bank account specified is in SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) country; otherwise the cost of the transfer will be deducted from the transferred amount. We will send a bank transfer to the indicated account within thirty (30) calendar days of receipt and verification of your request.

My LAMDA Account

You can change your password or personal details by logging into your account under the 'Account Settings' tab.

The LAMDA account can be used to order Prepaid MasterCards®, to view card balances and transaction reports, to upgrade cards, to change passwords or personal details, to make wire transfers, and to ask questions through the Helpdesk.

Loads, Limits & Charges

Your LAMDA card can be funded by a wire transfer.

The details for the wire transfer can be found in your account under 'My LAMDA Cards' tab. These details were also sent to you at your registered e-mail address. NOTE: When making a wire transfer always remember to use your personal Virtual IBAN.

There is a tab in your account, 'Funding Sources' which remembers your wire transfer history and makes the process faster.

LAMDA Prepaid cards can also be loaded by paying in cash at our branch location.

There is a loading fee of 0.5% of the amount loaded. (minimum €2.50 / $3.25).

There is no limit to load up the card via wire transfer per day as long as it does not exceed the maximum total load of the card. However, the bank account funding your LAMDA card needs to be under the same name.

POS purchases within Europe are free of charge. However, there is a €1 / $1.30 charge for POS purchases with the Prefunded Gift Cards
In addition, there is a €1 / $1.30 charge for POS purchases out of Europe with all of our cards.
No more than 10 POS purchases can take place in one day with the exception of our Prefunded Gift Cards that have a limit of 3 daily POS transactions.

Yes, there are limits for ATM withdrawals per day and per year for all of our Prepaid Physical MasterCards®. However, it varies depending on the card type. Refer to our Terms and Conditions for further details.

A card cannot be funded with more than the annual load limit. Once this is reached, the client can either choose to upgrade their card type or use the money available on the current card.

There is a cancellation fee of €5 / $6.50. Any funds on the card will be credited back to you.

Money Transfers

Your LAMDA card can be funded by a wire transfer. All that is required is your personal Virtual IBAN, which was sent via e-mail, but you can also find it in your online LAMDA account under 'My LAMDA Cards' tab.

Yes, but please allow between 24-48 hours for the funds to reflect in your account.
Depending on your bank, it may take up to 5 days for the funds to reflect in your account.

This depends on the bank you make the wire transfer from.

Account Security

To ensure that you are securely connected to the Lamda Card Services website at login, you should always look for these security indicators:

  • A padlock in the lower-right corner of your web browser window.
  • A web address in the top address bar of your web browser window that starts with https:// (the 's' indicates a secure connection).

Once you have established a secure connection to our website, all data is securely encrypted before it is sent.
For your protection, login sessions expire after 15 minutes of inactivity. We use identity verification services and real-time fraud detection measures to help protect you from unauthorized use of your accounts. We also monitor account activity for signs of unusual activity or suspicious patterns that might indicate fraud.
Account holders are the only ones who know their password; these are chosen by you and may be changed by you at any time. It cannot be retrieved if lost or forgotten, only reset.

We take the security, privacy and safety of our clients' data very seriously. All data is backed up every night. LAMDA Card Services has taken all reasonable measures to ensure the physical security of data and is constantly reviewing its procedures with regards to preventing losses through fire, theft and accidental damage. The LAMDA Card Services is protected by state of the art firewalls and virus detection systems to protect data from unauthorized access and tampering. These systems are under constant review and are kept up to date with software patches to close potential loopholes in security as they are discovered by the manufacturers. Under no circumstances will LAMDA Card Services disclose the nature of its protection systems to anyone not directly authorized by LAMDA Card Services.

We only use your personal information to help us administer your account, to improve our services to you and to provide you with products you have requested. We do not give out your personal information to any organization or individual.

Always contact the merchant first and try to resolve the issue with the merchant. If unsuccessful, contact Customer Service by e-mail at customer.service@lamdacardservices.com or by phone at +357 25249988.

If some or all account functions have been blocked it may be because of suspicious activity, in order to protect our LAMDA cardholders from theft or fraud.

It may also be because card limits have been exceeded or a card was held by an ATM.
Card activity may also be suspended for 24 hours if the daily spending limit or amount of transactions are reached.

The reasons we block an account vary depending on individual circumstances and we do not take this measure unless it is absolutely essential.
In such a case, please contact Customer Service on +357 25 249988.

PINs can be changed at the ATMs or they can be re-issued in the event that the PIN is forgotten or has been compromised. In this case, card activity is blocked temporarily until the cardholder has the new PIN.

Troubleshooting

If you can't login, please make sure you are using the correct username and password. Please ensure that you have a good Internet connection.

Reset your password if necessary. This is easily done by selecting the 'Forgot your Password?' option on www.lamdacardservices.com

If the issue is not resolved, contact Customer Service by email at customer.service@lamdacardservices.com or by phone at +357 25249988.

If you have forgotten your password, click on the 'Forgot your Password?' option on www.lamdacardservices.com.
You will be prompted to enter your account e-mail and a reset link will be sent to that e-mail address. Click on the link or copy paste it in the URL and reset your password.

NOTE: Passwords must be between 8 and 30 characters long and must contain at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, and one digit. Special Characters are not allowed.

If you have forgotten your PIN and have no way of remembering it, then contact Customer Service by e-mail at customer.service@lamdacardservices.com or by phone at +357 25249988 and a new PIN will be ordered for you. Your account will be temporarily suspended.

Only you know your PIN, if it is lost or compromised it must be re-issued.

If your LAMDA Prepaid Mastercard® has been lost or stolen, please call our Customer Service immediately at +357 25249988.

LAMDA Card Services will block you card to prevent anyone else using it and a new card and PIN will be ordered.

In the meantime, your funds will be secure, but you will not be able to use them until you receive your new card and PIN.

If your LAMDA Prepaid Mastercard® has been held by an ATM, please contact the bank where the ATM was held and let our Customer Service know.
